   Dallas Mavericks?
   Ok, so most of you might know, the dallas mavericks are not doing well, especially since dirk is out with an injury. Do you think they can hang on to the 8th spot until the playoffs start or do you think they will be out of the playoffs picture?

   also, if they were to be out of playoffs (in which we’re not sure yet), what would be more embarrassing, last year losing to the number 8 seed, or missing the playoffs when they acquired jason kidd.

   Well i think the should be able to hold on when Dirk comes back. Either Golden State or Denver is going to slip up in the end. I also believe that losing as a number 1 seed was more embarrasing cause it rarely happens and teams can go from first one year to ninth or below the next year and miss the playoffs ( most recently the Timberwolves in 03-04 were first in west than went down the ninth in 04-05)

   The Mav’s wont make it the playoffs the Nugg’s and warriors are playing good ball. Second The Warriors(8 seed) last year had won like 26 games out of the last 30 dont blame that on the Mav’s our team was on a roll.

   if dirk comes back than there’s a chance they might make it, but if he doesnt than they’re done,

   and to me i think not making the playoffs at all would be more embarrasing because at least last year you were in the playoffs, but to go from the best record in the league last year to not making it to the playoffs this year would be horrible

   Stick a fork in them, they are done. It is more embarrassing last year when they were 1st seed and lost in the 1st round, to the 8th seed.

    shocks can happen, upsets are common in sports like basketball, football. so really that cant be ‘embarrasing’, painfull yes but not embarrasing. missing the playoffs IS embarrasing. for a team that won 67 games last season to missing the playoffs this seasons, ofcourse it should be unacceptable BUT this is the most competitive conference EVER. a team drops 3 in a row and they can go from preparing for the playoffs to fighting to be in the playoffs. its crazy!! but soo absorbing!!

    for all dallas fans out there, if you look at the lighter side of it, this is a rough conference, atleast they didnt fall to weak teams.. but for me if i was a fan, not makin it to the playoffs would be the most embarrasin moment.

    It depends on Denver and Golden State more than it does Dallas. I say that because I think Dallas will continue to play poorly especially without Dirk and especially against teams with winning records. They’re a team without an identity, plus they don’t play well when faced with adversity.

    However the Nuggets and Warriors, as great as both of them are, can be very inconsistent. Prior to the 2nd half of the season both were looking at possibly missing the playoffs because despite all the talent on both teams they just couldn’t play well consistently.

    So I say that if down the stretch Denver and Golden State can consistently play hard, play defense, and play to win in every game (or at least the majority of them) that they can definitely push Dallas out of the playoff picture.

    If one or both of them don’t, Dallas will be in.

    It will be very tough but adding Jason Kidd will help the Mavs fight for the spot. I believe they will not keep the 8th spot.

    you know, a lot of people are writing dallas off, well im not one of them. you guys have to remember that denver is one of the worst road teams in the nba, and they play even less defense than GS does. denver i believe has 2 games against phoenix back to back. if denver loses both of them, then the pressure is really on them now. think of this: a team with a future HOFer in AI, one of the top 5 scorers in the nba in melo, and the defensive player of the year in camby doesnt even crack the top 8 teams in the west. that is sad and the warriors dont even have a single all star.

    i think dallas has a shot to stay in, but guys are going to have to start picking things up. it cants just be all josh howard like it was against GS. guys like terry and kidd have to step up.

    i don’t think they will, mavs aren’t their greatest this year, with dirk out, just think what they will be like, but you never know. i think missing the playoffs is more embarrassing because if youre not in the playoffs, it proves this year that youre not a top contender for the championship
