NBA Previews Atlanta Hawks
September 24, 2006
The season is a little over a month away and their are a lot of teams to review and a lot of predictions to make so I need to get started.
The Atlanta Hawks have a very young team once again this year. They will improve but I don’t see them making the playoffs. Their starting 5 should be Claxton, Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, and Zaza Pachulia.
The biggest key to this team picking up more wins then last year is point guard play and defense. If Claxton can get the right people the ball at the right time they will be able to score lots of points. They can’t just score though, they have to stop people. Josh Smith is their most athletic player and he should be able to lead them on the defensive end.
I see Josh Smith having a breakout year for the Hawks. He should be the second option behind Joe Johnson. Don’t forget about players like Shelden Williams from Duke and Salim Stoudamire who had a great rookie season.
The won’t make the playoffs but they will win more games and make things difficult for some of the leagues top teams.
