Hope is Up for the Celtics to Have Their Best Season

The Boston Celtics are heading for another outstanding season with Paul Pierce in the starting lineup. As the last practice before Wednesday night’s season opener was over. Coach Doc Rivers said the team was better than it was last year but he is still concerned about consistency.

Rivers has dealt with new players each year as he enters his third season as coach. This season five of the 15 players are new. Only two, Pierce and Kendrick Perkins, are well known to the team because they were there even before Rivers arrived. Which is the main reason the concern is about how much consistency can there be between so many guys who haven’t played a lot of NBA basketball. The Celtics will begin the season at home against the New Orleans Hornets, which could lead to a good start. Of Boston’s first 10 games, seven are at home. The Celtics will be up against some new faces too with the Hornets, they added Peja Stojakovic, Tyson Chandler and Bobby Jackson in the off-season.

Home is an important fact to gain confidence, but it is more important for a team to realize that it does not mean that it will make or break their season. The Celtics are a team that’s really just starting to come together, if that, and then the young guys are still growing so, obviously, if they could get off to a great start that would really set them up for the second half because they thought that is going to be a much better team by midpoint.

The Celtics won 12 fewer games last season than they did the previous season. Since they missed the playoffs, they acquired two new point guards, Sebastian Telfair in a trade with Portland and Rajon Rondo in the draft. They have great speed. Both have great vision and great feel and the thing I like most about them both is for 48 minutes we can play at the same speed.

The Celtics acquired Rondo for a future first-round pick from Phoenix, which took him with the 21st pick of the draft.

In NBA they really don’t know if they’re better until they go out there and play some games, but I definitely think the Celtics are more talented this season.

  1. Good job Celtics. How do you feel on their season/post season and trades and all that?
I’d like to thank the Celtics with an awesome season. It was filled with ups and downs, trades and losses, injuries ( KG :-( ) Ray Allen is my favorite player and can’t wait to see him with "the shot" next season. We’ll win it all next year with hopefully a fresh, rested, 09-10 Celtics team. My other favorite players are Eddie House (Eddie Mansion) and Stephon Marbury (Stephon StarBury*). I can’t wait next year guys! I hope you have a great resting time off season! <3 Y’all. <3 ya Ray Ray! =D

  2. I hope they go DOWN hill the rest of their franchise years.

  4. ..Hopefully we’ll make some moves that’ll help our bench. Maybe another Poseyesque player

…YDNA-Garnett was out for the postseason so…yeah…and I would hardly think 62-20 is a "bombed" season

  5. this is the downfall of the celtics…this year was their last year to contend and now they are all to old to go back and do it again…say bye bye celtics bandwagoners cuz they were a one-year-wonder and everyone knew it

  6. Overall, it was disappointing but they’ll be back strong next year. Their 2 mid-year signings just didn’t work out like they did last year with PJ Brown and Sam Cassell. They need to add a big man off the bench and a better backup PG. Other then that, they’re good

  7. honestly they did have a great post season, great drama playing and heart. but i sorta knew in the back of my mind that it would not go into the finals. too much physical and emotional stuff going on. i am excited what the next season brings w/kg and our new superstars davis and house (ha, mansion, i like that)

  8. I’m a Celtics fan, and frankly, I would be thinking in the playoffs, you PLAY your BEST PLAYER if at all possible…

I knew when Doc Rivers talked about KG not going at all for the playoffs, that the Celtics would not be repeating…Frankly, I think this was a boneheaded decision that was not in the best interest of the team…

KG has only 1 or 2 good years left, so its not like he has got to be careful because of a contract renewal or something…He should have been out there to try to repeat so he could solidify his case for the HOF by winning 2 titles in a row…
