Mo Williams Is Better Than TJ Ford

December 23, 2006

Last year when TJ Ford came back from injury to claim his starting spot I was pissed at the Milwaukee Bucks. After seeing what Mo Williams did the season before it was clear that he was the better player. The biggest difference between him and Ford is that he can shoot and score. The Bucks dumped Ford on the Raptors and I was looking forward to seeing Mo get off but he started the year off slow and had me wondering what was up. He started the season shooting around 38%.

The last few weeks he has been getting his shot back and showing why trading TJ Ford was a great thing, he even had a triple double the other night versus the Heat. He is averaging 16.7 ppg, 6.3 apg, shooting 45% and shooting 33% on threes, not to mention the 5.3 rpg he averages. He is giving Michael Redd a lot of help in the backcourt that he did not have with TJ Ford.

TJ Ford on the other hand is averaging 15.1 ppg, 8.2 apg, 4 rpg, and shooting 44% and shooting 30% on just 23 three point attempts.

There has been talk about the Bucks going after Billups in the offseason but do the need him? Mo Williams is playing well although he is small and need to work on his Defense but he has worked his way up in the league as a second round pick hopefully he will kep improving and stay with the Buck for a few more years.

Today is March 23, 2007. The Raptors with TJ Ford are 37-31 whereas the Bucks with Mo Williams are 25-42!

Please don’t tell me that only the Bucks have been missing some key players during the season.

TJ Ford is a real steal and he’s definitely one of the best point guards in the NBA. As Jorge Garbajosa mentioned in one of his previous interviews, basketball is not uniquely based on individual statistics but on team chemistry. The Raptors’ chemistry is far from being perfect but it is far better than the Milwaukees’.

I didn’t say the Bucks were better than the Raptors I said Mo Williams is a better player than TJ Ford, and he is.

As far as the records and the injuries, the Bucks missed their star player for almost 20 games. If the Raptors lost Bosh for 20 games they would not win many games without him.

I completely disagree with your little theory here. I don’t know how you came to this conclusion but it’s completely false. Can you provide any reasons for why you feel this way?

Oh and since you don’t want the Raptors and don’t watch any basketball other than perhaps Bucks games Chris Bosh missed 12 games, the Raptors went 6-6. T.J. Ford was heroic during that stretch and was even considered an M.V.P candidate at that point in the season.

It’s not about numbers to me but if you want to play it that way T.J. Ford has the better numbers.. if you look at the minutes T.J. Ford is averaging more than 6 minutes less than Mo Williams. Their pp/48 minutes are 22.88 for Mo, and 22.66 for T.J. Their shooting percentages are .443 and .442 respectively. Their ap/48 are 12.6 for T.J. Ford and 8.2 for Mo Williams. Now tell me who has the better numbers, and who’s contributing more for their team?

TJ Ford was never considered and MVP candidate. If he was so good he would be on the floor more. Who is his competition for the guard spot? He must not be that good or he would be playing more.

The Bucks have Charlie Bell and Earl Boykins fighting for playing time and Mo Williams still gets his minutes, points, rebounds and assists. He is a better shooter and rebounder and overall player. Any idiot can see that.

The fact that Charlie Bell gets more minutes then TJ Ford should tell you that the coaches don’t trust TJ to be in the game all that much.

I also have to question his work ethic. He came into the league back in 2003 and people said he couldn’t shoot. Four years later he still can’t. What kind of work ethic is that? Mo Williams worked his way up from second round pick to starter by working hard and improving. Charlie Bell worked his way up from undrafted to starter. Just face it guy, TJ sucks.

Jose Calderon = best backup point guard in the NBA, shows how much you know about basketball. He would be starting for the bucks idiot.

Charlie Bell and Earl Boykins both ruin your club, they come in shooting and they definately aint scoring.

T.J. Ford is 6th in the NBA in assists and 2nd in assists per 48 minutes. T.J. Ford rebounds, steals, scores the exact same amount as Mo Williams per 48 minutes. T.J. Ford if still in Milwaukee would be at 18 pts, 10 assists, 4 rebs a night.

Ooo boy look at the NBA.com stats and see who has a better shooting percentage - T.J. Ford or Mo Williams.. ding ding ding it’s T.J. Ford, another clarification..

If you’re comparing Charlie Bell to T.J. Ford and stating that Charlie Bell is better that pretty much settles our argument.

Oh and I have one more point.. every year T.J. Ford played for you guys you made the playoffs, he leaves and you guys are bottom feeders.
We were bottom feeders, we get T.J. and now where are we? If you don’t know we’re the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference (the conference the Bucks are in - the team with the green uniforms who reside in Milwaukee)

We can agree to disagree then. Its not that big of a deal, you have your opinion and I have mine.

Got something to say?
