Kevin Durant Goes Off, Then Gets Cold And Loses
March 4, 2007
Kevin Durant of the Texas Longhorns was putting on a show against Texas in the first half against Kansas. He had 25 points including 5 three pointers. It looked like he was on his way to at least 40 points and adding a few more voters to his side for player of the year.
In the second half Texas gave up the lead because Durant started to miss, Kansas started to run, and Texas could not get a defensive rebound. Things got worse for Texas as Durant sprained his left ankle. He left the game but came back quickly. The Longhorns got back in the game but had two costly turnovers by AJ Abrams and then a forced shot by DJ Augistine was blocked. Durant only had 7 points in the second half to end the game with 32. The Longhorns made two big mistakes throughout the second half. They did not rebound and they kept passing to AJ Abrams. They were outrebounded 41 to 31 and AJ bricked three pointer after three pointer and ended the game 6 for 17 on field goals.
I was kinda pissed to see Durant slowdown in the second. It would have been nice to see him get 40 or 50 on the road. He still has the Big 12 Tournament and the NCAA Tournament to light someone up though.
