Jeff Green Travels To A Game Winner, NC Comes Back, Kobe Gets 50, Again
March 24, 2007
The Georgetown Hoyas rode Jeff Greens happy feet into the Elite Eight yesterday as he hit a wild game winner over two defenders with 2.5 seconds left to put the Hoyas up 66-65. The play was crazy from the beginning as the Hoyas took their time bring the ball up and getting into the play, then Jeff Green fumbled the ball, it look like the game was about to be over but he decided to change pivot foots and throw it up on the glass and it went in. I am happy for the Hoyas but Vanderbilt players should not be able to sleep for a week losing a game like that. The video of the shot is below.
I didn’t watch much of any of the gamesexcep the last minutes of each one and the North Carolina game was hard to watch. USC hit a long jumper to go up 59-47 and then it all went downhill for them. NC started forcing turnover, getting put backs, getting to the line, throwing down thunderous dunks, it was a quick hard turnaround. USC did not score for a longtime and ended up losing. I would have loved to see USC get by because they would be easier for Georgetown to beat than NC but it didn’t turn out that way.
Once again last night Kobe went off for 50 points against the Hornets. It was his fourth straight game of 50 or more, only Wilt Chamberlin has had more with 7 straight games back in the 60s. The best part about the 4 games is that the Lakers have won all 4 of them. Their next 3 games are against the Warriors, Grizzlies, and Rockets. I hope he keeps the streak going because if he takes the streak into a game against T-Mac then T-Mac will try to go right back at him. You could end up seeing both of those guys drop 50 plus when they play.
