Injured Stars Return

April 3, 2008

Several NBA stars returned from injuries last night. Elton Brand, Gilbert Arenas, Pau Gasol, and Dirk Nowitzki. The biggest surprise comeback of those four guys was Dirk. Everyone thought he was done for the year but he surprisingly returned to help the Mavs to their first win over a .500 team since Jason Kidd Came to town. Dirk finished with 17 points and 4 rebounds.

It was also a big surprise to see Gilbert Arenas back on the court. I read that he was cleared to play but they said he would not play until he got his mind right but I guess they decided to let him play anyway. He played a solid game and Arenas scored 17 points in 20 minutes.

Pau and Brand also had solid games and picked up wins in their returns.

Arenas Out For 2-3 Months, Wizards Are Doomed

April 5, 2007

The Washington Wizards have lost their best player Gilbert Arenas to a left knee injury. Arenas, who I consider to be one of the best ten players in the NBA is a big part of the Wizards success. He can shot, pass, drive, takeover games, and hit game winners. The Wizards have a decent team because they have two other guys, Butler and Jamison, that can put points up but they don’t have much more offense than that, especially upfront. This team should plan to lose in the first round unless a guy like Antonio Daniels can triple his scoring average.

Arenas Says He Won’t Make Stevenson Pay

February 11, 2007

In his latest blog post here, Arenas says he won’t make Stevenson pay up on the $20,000 bet they made for the shooting contest they had. If you have not seen the video you can see it here.

Gilbert Arenas Vs. Deshawn Stevenson For $20K

February 10, 2007

For those of you that have heard about the shooting contest between Arenas and Stevenson but have not seen it, the video is below. Arenas was shooting one handed college threes and Stevenson was shooting NBA threes. A lot of people have said Arenas cheated, judge for yourself.

Gilbert Vs. Kobe, Round 2

February 4, 2007

After Gilbert Arenas went off for 60 points against the Lakers in December, Kobe said he would be ready the next time around. Both players were ready to duel. Kobe ended the game with 39 points on very efficient shooting and a 118-102 win. Gilbert ended the game with 37 points, a loss, and a poor shooting night. Even though Gilbert had a poor shooting night he had a few very impressive plays including an ankle breaking crossover and pull up three pointer in Kobe’s face. Kobe had his moments too with a 360 degree dunk and a one handed tomahawk dunk. Gilbert admitted after the game that he may have got caught up in the hype. It also seems that Caron was trying to prove something to the Lakers because he had an off night too.

Kobe said that he doesn’t get up for the individual matchups anymore but he was just talking shit. I know this game was marked on his calendar since Gilbert Arenas gave him 60 points.

That type of game is what entertains the fans and I am sure when they meet next season this game will be on their minds and they will both be ready to go at it again.

Arenas And Redd, Best Players In Their Drafts

January 21, 2007

I was glancing at some of the past NBA drafts a while back and I was a bit surprised to notice that Michael Redd and Gilbert Arenas, second round picks, where the best players in their respective drafts. Redd was selected with the 43rd pick in the 2000 draft and Arenas was selected with the 31st pick in the 2001 draft.

Now both of these players are all-stars and big time NBA scorers. I knew about Redd in college because I watch a lot of Big Ten games and I was surprised to see him fall that far but I was happy that the Bucks got him. It is really funny to look back and see that guys like Keyon Dooling and Etan Thomas got picked before him.

Arenas I did not know much about him in college but I saw him play a bit in his second season and I was impressed. I became a fan of his after hearing the story of why he wears number zero. It is funny guys like Brian Scalabrine and Steven Hunter got picked before him.

It is always good to see guys come back from second round status to become stars and make big money.

Ten Best Players In The NBA

January 7, 2007

These are the players I consider to be the top ten in the NBA. These are not in order they are just the ten best overall. My top ten is based on offense, defense, consistency, whether they are winners, and versatility.

Lebron James

Steve Nash

Kobe Bryant

Allen Iverson

Tim Duncan

Kevin Garnett

Dwayne Wade

Carmelo Anthony

Gilbert Arenas

Dirk Nowitki

The only player I feel could break into this list would be Yao Ming, I actually had him on the list but I took him off and put Dirk on.
