Early Disappointments
November 29, 2008
If you check out the standings you will see teams like the Lakers and Celtics where you expected them to be, at the top of the standings. You will see teams like Minnesota and Okalahoma City at the bottom where you expected them to be. You will also see teams like New Orleans, Toronto, and Philadelphia with extremely disappointing records. New Orleans which many people saw as one of the top two teams in the West is sitting at 9 and 6. They have had some injury issues but overall they are not scoring the ball well.
Philadelphia was supposed to be a contender with the addition of Elton Brand but they are only 7 and 9. Players like Lou Williams and Andre Iguodola are not playing like they did last year and that is a big reason they are off to a slow start. With teams like Atlanta, Miami, and New Jersey playing better than expected, the 76ers better get it together or one of those other teams will be in the playoffs and the Sixers will be at home.
Chris Bosh is playing great in Toronto but the Raptors are only 7 and 9. With the growth of Bosh’s game, the addition of O’Neal, and Calderon running point full time you would think they would be over .500. The are in the same boat as the Sixers, if they don’t play better they will end up at home watching the playoffs.
New Orleans Hornets 2008-2009 Season Preview
October 30, 2008
The Hornets are a top 3 team in the Western conference and they have a very good chance of getting to the NBA Finals. Last year their team was decent but if did not seem as deep. Looking back, last years team was deep but Byron Scott just didn’t use Rasual Butler or Mike James. This year both of those players should get minutes along with Devin Brown and James Posey and that will make them a deeper team.
Everyone is on James Posey’s jock because of what he did for Boston last year. I know he will help New Orleans but Posey is a role player not superstar, he gets way too much credit for Boston’s title victory.
The Hornets will make the playoffs and they have the offensive firepower to beat teams like LA and Houston but they have to play better defense. Every team in the West has good offense, the team that steps it up on defense will get to the finals.

Second Round Match Ups Preview
May 2, 2008
Two match ups for the second round of the NBA playoffs are set. The Detroit Pistons will face the Orlando Magic and the New Orleans Hornets will face the San Antonio Spurs.
The Pistons are a deep team but they cannot try to play around with the Magic like they did with the Sixers. The Magic have a beast in the middle and tons of shooters on the outside. I am sure the defense will be focused stopping Howard from being able to pass so easily out of the double teams. Swarming defense on Howard could lead to a ton of turnovers and running opportunities for the Pistons. Pistons should get this in 6 games.
In the San Antonio versus New Orleans series it is going to be a battle in the paint and on the perimeter. Parker and Paul are to good point guards that had great first rounds, while Duncan has to battle the offensive minded David West and the extremely active Chandler in the post. The Spurs are very consistent and even when you think they can lose they always end up winning. I think the series will go seven games with the Spurs winning.
Dallas Sucks
April 23, 2008
A lot of people were picking Dallas to beat New Orleans in the playoffs because of their experience. I picked Dallas to win just because I thought they were better but now I think Dallas is done. They don’t have anyone that can guard Chris Paul and they are just not mentally tough. Dirk looks to be tougher mentally and Brandon Bass is trying to prove himself but guys like Josh Howard, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Stackhouse, and Dampier are playing weak.
It will suck if Dallas loses this series since I bet $100 on them to win it. Right now it is looking like the worst $100 I ever spent.

Chris Paul took over down the stretch against the Bulls and lead New Orleans to a great home win. He was getting to the basket at will. Check out the highlights below.
Who Is The MVP?
March 2, 2008
In November I made a post about who I thought was the MVP up to that point in the season. I picked Dwight Howard. Now I few months later I am doing an update.
If I were to select an MVP right now I would have to go with Chris Paul. My second place would be Kobe and my third place would be LeBron. Two guys Dwight Howard and Kevin Garnett are not really in the discussion anymore.
A lot of people are jocking Lebron and he is playing awesome but the biggest reason I can’t go with LeBron is because he is putting up great numbers on a decent team. In 05-06 when Kobe average 35.4 ppg 5.3 rpg and 4.5apg and his team was 45-37 people said that his team was not good enough. LeBron’s team is on pace to win the same amount of games, in a weaker conference, so I don’t think LeBron should get it.
Kobe is having a great season and he is winning but I can’t pick him over Chris Paul because Chris Paul is in the same tough conference, with a pretty much equal record, but Kobe has the better team. Paul has led the Hornets all season and they haven’t even had a bench.
Things may change in the next month and a half but for now I have to go with Chris Paul.
