Milwaukee Bucks 2008-2009 Season Preview

October 19, 2008

The Bucks made a few trades this season to bring in Richard Jefferson and Luke Ridnour. When the trades first happened my thought was Milwaukee is going to better and make the playoffs. Now, a few months later my thought is, the Bucks will be better but won’t make the playoffs. In the Eastern conference their are pretty much 6 teams that will definitely make the playoffs, Boston, Orlando, Cleveland, Philly, Toronto, ad Detroit. That leaves two spots for all the other teams. The competition between those last two spots will be Miami, Indiana, Washington, and Milwaukee. I am pretty sure Miami will get one of the two. It is hard to say which team will get the last one but I will go with Washington even though they are having a lot of injuries.

Even though Milwaukee has a good looking starting 5 they need to do some things different to get in the playoffs. First of all they need to step up and play defense. Scott Skiles is the new coach and he is considered a defensive coach so maybe he can get them to play some defense. Lastly they have to feed Andrew Bogut. Their are so many crappy centers in the NBA that any center that has a decent game should be killing. Bogut has a decent game but he never gets the ball. He could average 20 and 10 this year if he gets more shots each game.

Bucks Making Everyone Available

January 4, 2008

The Milwaukee Bucks stink. They got blew out by 45 points when they played the Pistons and now the Bucks are realizing changes need to be made from top to bottom. The coach could be fired, the GM could be fired, and word is every player is available except Yi and Bogut.

It seems the Bucks regret signing Charlie Bell. They probably regret signing Mo Williams. They probably realize Michael Redd isn’t versatile enough to lead the Bucks to quality wins.

I am surprised that Bogut is not on the block considering the fact that they never give him the ball and when he does get it he is scared to shoot. The least he could do is commit to crashing the boards or blocking shots but he can’t even average over 10 boards a game.

The Bucks will probably never be an elite team unless they get lucky in the draft or have a star that people want to play with. Players want to play with guard like Kidd, Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, Wade, but Mike Redd won’t have free agents itching to come here.

Bucks Coming Back Down To Earth

November 29, 2007

The Bucks knocked off 3 good NBA teams last week and were 6 and 0 at home and 7 and 4 overall. Now this week so far they have already lost to the 76ers and the Hawks. The Bucks are a good team but they lose games they should win too often. If they can be consistent they can make the playoffs but if they continue have weeks like this on a regular basis it will be a long season.

The Bucks Are Idiots

November 4, 2007

The Milwaukee Bucks have a good team and a deep team but their are two things that will keep them from competing playing good defense and scoring in the post. When the Bucks got the number one draft pick a few years back they were all excited to have their big man of the future. What is the point of drafting this guy if he is not going to get the ball?

He has been in some foul trouble already this season but if you have a choice of scoring 3 feet from the basket or 23 feet you should pick 3 feet. Last night against the Bulls the Bogut came in the game during the forth quarter and had a layup, a dunk, and a another layup, then the Bucks forgot about him and start putting up long range jumpers that they were missing and almost let the Bulls back in the game.

If the Bucks don’t use this guy they will not be a very good team.

Bucks Keep Bell

September 20, 2007

The Bucks have decided to match the offer Charlie Bell received from the Miami Heat. The Heat offered Bell a 5 year $18 million deal. The Bucks had 7 days to match the offer. Bell had become disatisfied with the organization because they took a long time to try and sign him and they where not willing to give him a long term deal.

Bell was hoping the Bucks would not resign him but now that they have decided to keep him lets hope that he will be able to move forward and go out and play hard instead holding a grudge against the organization.

Bucks Already Looking At Bell Replacements

September 9, 2007

With negotiations with Charlie Bell going bad the Bucks are already looking at other options. Word is they have interest in point guard Troy Hudson. Hudson was recently bought out by the Minnesota Timberwolves for $10 million and is looking for a new team. Hudson has not done much of anything in the last few years, the Bucks better focus on keeping Bell instead of trying to go after Hudson.

Bucks May Lose Bell

September 7, 2007

The Milwaukee Bucks have had a good offseason because they were able to resign Mo Williams and sign their top pick Yi but thing will turn bad quickly if the team can’t resign Charlie Bell. Bell was the only Buck to play 82 games. He had a great season playing backup at the one and two and he is a player the Bucks should not let go.

Word is Bell wants a 5 year $25 million deal, and the Bucks are only willing to offer 3 year and $9 million. I have also heard that Bell is considering a 2 year $10 million deal from a team overseas. Hopefully, the Bucks will be able to keep Bell, if they don’t they will lose a reliable guy that fought hard to get in the league, they will also be losing a very good shooter.

Bucks Should Have Won A Title With Their Big 3

August 22, 2007

Ray Allen has a new big three in Boston that are aiming for a title, but lets not forget about his old big three in Milwaukee that should have won a title or at least got to the finals.

The Milwaukee Bucks had Sam Cassell, Ray Allen, and Glenn Robinson all dropping 20 plus a game back in the day and that wasn’t even the best thing about them. The best thing about them was that Ray Allen was the only one with a max deal. Glenn Robinson signed a 10 year deal worth $68 million when he entered the league in 1994 and Cassell was stuck in a bad deal that paid him about $5 million a year. With those 3 the team had some role players and defenders to help out. The one thing they never got was inside scoring. Of course over those years they overpaid Tim Thomas and Jason Caffey but to have two unpaid 20ppg scorers and not take advantage is ridiculous.

Teams nowadays with 3 stars are dropping at least $10 million on each player which leaves nothing for role players. The Bucks were in the best position a team could be in but they blew it because they were cheap and could not recruit good offensive post players.

The Celtics have a big three and they are trying to take advantage, even though their big three is making a ton, they have added a shooter and a big guy. They are wooing Reggie Miller, another shooter, and players like Ruben Patterson are interested in joining the team.
