Indiana Pacers 2008-2009 Season Preview

October 1, 2008

The Indiana Pacers moved Jermaine O’Neal this Summer for TJ Ford and a few other players. In the next few weeks they will get rid of Jamal Tinsley and possible Shawne Williams. After those two players are moved the Pacers will have an okay team left but not one good enough to make the playoffs.

This team will have excellent point guard play with TJ Ford starting and Jarrett Jack coming off the bench. The team also has a good batch of shooters like Troy Murphy, Granger, and Dunleavy. After those 5 players you pretty much have a bunch of limited role players and inexperienced rookies. Throw in the fact that this team is not so good defensively and you can see they have an uphill battle to make the playoffs.

This team could use some more solid big men. They have some good trade bait with Radoslav Nesterovic and Jeff Foster having expiring contracts. It is very possible this team could make some moves and improve their roster at any time during the season.

Indiana Getting Closer To Taking The Hawks 8th Seed

April 10, 2008

A few days ago it looked like the Hawks had the 8th seed in the Eastern conference locked up but Indiana is creeping up on them. The Hawks are 36-42 and the Pacers are 34-44, both teams have 4 games left.

The Hawks play New York, Boston, Orlando, and Miami in their four remaining games. They should be able to beat Miami and New York, maybe even Boston if the Celtics rest their starters , and go 3-1 in the final four games. The Pacers play Philadephia, Charlotte, Washington, and New York. They could probably beat Charlotte and New York and go 2-2 in the final four games leaving them out of the playoffs.

Jermaine ONeal Wants To Go To LA

August 6, 2007

Jermaine Oneal has came out and said he wants to be traded to LA and if not LA to the Nets. The Lakers have been trying to get some things going this summer to please Kobe but they have not done much. If they were to trade Odom and Bynum for Oneal that wouldn’t improve them much. They need to find a way to get JO and keep Odom. Kwame is a good asset because of his expiring contract and Bynum is an asset because he is a young big man but other than that they do not have any other good pieces to add to a trade and match Oneal’s salary.

Who Will Win In This 4 Team Deal

June 26, 2007

A lot of quality players are involved in the 4 team KG deal that is being talked about. Even though they are still talking about the deal and we don’t know all the players and picks that will be involved, I still want to look at how it affects each team.

The Lakers will add KG giving them one of the best duos in the league. They would have a starting lineup of Brown, KG, Walton, Bryant, and Farmar. That is if they keep Brown, resign Walton, and don’t get a better PG than Farmar. That really doesn’t look to great on paper. The would have to resign and start Chris Mihm and get a better PG to really improve. They could probably get Troy Hudson or Telfair but that would not really improve them much at PG.

The Timberwolves would get Al Jefferson and the 5th pick in the draft. They would get an up and coming big man and they could get a great forward in the draft.

The Pacers would benefit the most from the deal if you ask me, they get Bynum and Odom to go along with Jamal Tinsley and Danny Granger, if guys play up to potential. If they get those two they will have a team of underacheivers but if these guys play like they should the Pacers will make the playoffs.

The Celtics would get Jermaine Oneal to team up with Paul Pierce. That would be a solid addition if they can keep Delonte West and Gerald Green.

Garnett Could Go To LA

June 25, 2007

The Lakers are in the process of trying to get Kevin Garnett in a Lakers uniform. Right now the Lakers, Wolves, Celtics, and Pacers are trying to work on a deal. Early talk is saying Garnett would got to LA, Jermaine Oneal would go to Boston, Bynum and Odom would go to Indiana, and Al Jefferson and the number 5 pick would go to Minnesota. Some other players and picks would also be involved.

Even with the talk about Garnett possibly going to the Lakers, Kobe is still saying he wants out of LA.

Warriors And Pacers Make An 8 Player Deal

January 17, 2007

The Warriors and Pacers made a 8 player trade today. The Pacers traded Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Josh Powell, and Sarunas Jasikevicius to Golden State for Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu, and Keith McLeod. The best players in this deal are Harrington and Murphy. Murphy gives Jermaine Oneal help upfront on the boards plus he can step out and shoot the ball. Having a guy like that in the East is a great thing because not many teams have it. Dunleavy make be able to play better in a different situation but I don’t think it is likely. He will give them some threes and scoring but not consistently.

Harrington is a solid player, someone I thought would have been a lot better than he is. It seems like his potential has disappear ever since he torn his ACL a few years ago. He may be able to get his game to where it should be playing with Baron Davis and playing in a faster style of play. Stephen Jackson will add some offense in Golden State but he and Harrington are similar players.

Diogu could help the Pacers if he ever get healthy. Jasikevicus can add some backcourt scoring when Baron Davis takes his next trip to the irjured list. The other guys are just throw ins.

Indiana Pacers Preview

October 18, 2006

I addressed the Pacers situation a few posts ago saying that they may have a rough season if Stephen Jackson goes to jail. They have added Al Harrington and he will bring some offense but with the off the court problems this team probably won’t go far. I see them getting in the playoffs with a eight seed and getting sweep.

Besides Jermaine O neal and Harrington they won’t have any offense. It will be another hard season for Pacers fans.

Stephen Jackson Might Do Some Time In Jail

October 14, 2006

Officials in Detroit have said that Stephen Jackson violated his probation when he fire shots outside of a nightclub last week. It is very likely he could do sometime in jail. The Pacers have been through a lot the last two seasons and they look to have another tough one if Jackson goes to jail.

The had the brawl in 04-05 then last year they had the Ron Artest distraction and this year hasn’t started and they are already looking at a tough season.
