T-Mac And Yao Need To Show Up For The Rockets To Win

November 11, 2008

The Rockets were the team I picked to win it all before the season but I am starting to regret that pick. I know that it is early in the season but Yao Ming and McGrady have really stunk it up. I saw the Rockets versus Celtics game and Yao Ming was getting clowned by Perkins. Perkins blocked Yao’s shot 3 or 4 times and he forced Yao into a travel, not to mention the missed dunk and the missed layup’s and tip ins. You could see Yao Ming losing his confidence as the game went on. Against the Lakers he didn’t do much more as they lost by almost 30 points.

T-Mac is another guy that needs to play more consistently. Compared to Wade, Kobe, and Lebron T-Mac is on a level below. He just doesn’t seem to care a lot of the time.

Also, Ron Artest is shooting horrible but a least he is bringing it. You don’t have to worry about his confidence or love for the game. Hopefully some of that will rub off on the other players.

Houston Rockets 2008-2009 Season Preview

September 30, 2008

The Rockets are looking like a very tough team with the addition of Ron Artest. The biggest thing that the Rockets have to do is stay healthy. Ming and McGrady are both injury prone. Last season the Rockets were able to win without Yao but that is not likely to happen this season. If one or both of those players goes down then things can get rough.

In addition to adding Artest this team can look forward to improvements from Scola, Luther Head, and Carl Landry. They can also look forward to improved 3 point shooting with the addition of Brent Barry. Also look for their defense to become even better than in was last year, especially if they resign Mutombo.

I see the Rockets being the number one seed in the Western Conference because they are a better defensive team than the Lakers and Hornets. The Rockets will make the playoffs and they will get to the second round, if they stay healthy.

Artest Going To The Rockets

July 30, 2008

The Houston Rockets, a team that is already good defensively and a team that was able to win without Yao Ming just got better. They have worked out a deal to bring Ron Artest to Houston. The Rockets played half of their season without Yao Ming but where able to still make the playoffs.

With Artest and Battier defending wings and Yao and Mutombo blocking shots this team will be even better defensively next year. I would put them as the best team in the West right now above the Lakers just because they play much better defense then the Lakers play.

Celtics Ends Rockets Winning Streak

March 19, 2008

The Rockets winning streak ended yesterday at 22 games. They ran into a Boston Celtics team that is good defensively and got shut down in the second half. The score was tied 40-40 at halftime but things went downhill for the Rockets after that.

The Celtics held Tracy McGrady to 8 points and he stated that it was the best defense that the team faced this year. As much as people have been talking about the West, people better remember that the Celtics have been the most impressive team. They play good defense, they are deeper with Sam Cassell and PJ Brown, they can win on the road, and they have won games with key players missing.

Rockets Win 22nd Straight

March 17, 2008

The Rockets won their 22nd straight game yesterday beating the Lakers 104-92. The Rockets were up by 15 at halftime but the Lakers came back and kept the game close throughout the third and fourth quarter but the Rockets exploded during the last 5 minutes of the game and the Lakers went cold.

Rafer Alston, Shane Battier, and Bobby Jackson made all of the Rockets 12 three pointers. Their next game is against Boston tomorrow night.

Mutombo Gives Okafor The Finger

March 15, 2008

Mutombo comes up with two big blocks on Okafor in the clutch of the Rockets 21st straight win, and gives him the classic finger wag.

Rockets Get To 18 Straight And 3rd Place In The West

March 9, 2008

The Rockets ran their winning streak to 18 yesterday with a win over the New Orleans Hornets. People, including me, thought they were done earlier this season. Then they lost Yao and people, including me, thought they were done, but they are still winning without Yao.

Right now they are siting in 3rd place in the Western conference and they are only 2 games back of 1st place. How crazy would it be if they ended up with the 1st spot?

Even though they are killing everyone they play, you still won’t find many people in the World that think they can get out of the first round. They can get out of the first round if they get a good matchup. Their best opportunities would be against Phoenix, Dallas, and probably Golden State.

Yao Ming Done For The Season

February 26, 2008

Just when I finished writing about the Nuggets most likely not making the playoffs, I find out that Yao Ming will be out for the rest of the regular season and playoffs with a stress fracture in his left foot. The treament for the injury will take 4 months.

With this blow to the Rockets it is a very good chance that they won’t make the NBA playoffs. The West is extra tough this year. When the Lakers lost Bynum they started to go downhill before they added Gasol. The same thing may happen to the Rockets because they not only lose Yao Ming but they traded away Bonzi Wells and Mike James. The also have lost Steve Francis for the rest of the season.

McGrady is going to have to start dropping 30 points a night just to get the Rockets in the playoffs and once he gets there he most likely will get bounced in the first round again.

Rafer To Miami

July 22, 2007

With 5 point guards on their roster the Houston Rockets are looking to move two of them. The Heat have been searching for a PG all summer and are looking at making a move for Rafer Alston. Rafer played one season in Miami during Wade’s rookie season. The names being mention in rumors are Udonis Haslem and Michael Doleac.

It is interesting to heard Haslem mentioned in trade talked because moving him would give them a hole at the PF position so it will be interesting to see how this rumor plays out.
