Denver Nuggets 2008-2009 Season Preview
September 24, 2008
The Denver Nuggets got into the playoffs last season and their were quickly knocked out by the Lakers. This year they return a team that has a lot of question marks.
One of the first things I have to point out is that this team traded away Marcus Camby a good rebounder and shot blocker. Everyone is saying that the Nuggets are doomed with their best defender gone but I say that they have 2 big men that have had injury problems, Nene and K Mart, and they have Chris Anderson and Steven Hunter. If Nene and K Mart stay healthy they can replace Camby’s rebounding and shot blocking. Also remember that K Mart is a solid defender.
Another issue is JR Smiths minutes. JR Smith should be a starter in the NBA. He could easily average 20 per game. Last season I made a blog post saying that if the Nuggets missed the playoff it would be because JR Smith barely played in the beginning of the season. The Nugget do not play good team defense, they have to depend on their offense to win yet they keep their third best scorer on the bench way too much.
Another issue is Iverson. He did not get the contract extension he wanted so, will he be motivated to play hard? I think so because he needs to show people that he still has it and that he can win if he wants to get another good contract after the season.
Overall, I don’t think the Nuggets are that bad but I don’t see them in the playoffs. They just aren’t deep enough team to get in.
Camby A Clipper
July 16, 2008
Looks like the Clippers took my advice. I wrote a few days ago that I thought they should use their cap space on a back to the basket player instead of a wind player like Josh Smith. Marcus Camby isn’t a back to the basket player but he is a better fit than Josh Smith or Luol Deng would have been. He will block shots, rebound the basketball and he should get more opportunities to score in LA then he got in Denver.
On the other hand the Nuggets are cheap as hell, they gave up Camby for nothing and they already lost Najera. What if they lose JR Smith? Man, they will really suck next year.
Denver Is Done
April 27, 2008
The Denver Nuggets went home for game three yesterday and got killed by the Lakers. Most of the players played horrible including the ones you expected to play great, AI and Melo. The fans were pissed pretty much the whole game and never got into it. Now the Nuggets are pretty much playing for pride. I am sure that they would like to win game 4 just to give their fans something to cheer about before their season ends.

Lakers Clinch The Top Seed In The West
April 16, 2008
The Lakers blew out the Sacramento Kings yesterday to claim the top spot in the Western Conference. They will play either Dallas or Denver in the first round. If Denver wins and Dallas loses Denver will move up to the 7th seed and Dallas will drop to the 8th. If Denver loses and Dallas wins Denver will stay in the 8th spot and Dallas will stay in the 7th spot.
The better matchup for the Lakers would be Denver. They took care of the Nuggets easily in the regular season this year but every game against Dallas was close. They can beat either team but Dallas will give them more problems, especially Dirk and Terry.
Nuggets And Hawks In The Playoffs
April 15, 2008
The Nuggets clinched a playoff spot last night when Golden State lost to Phoenix. The Nuggets are sitting in the 8th spot right now. They can get the seventh spot it they win their last game and Dallas loses their last game.
The Hawks clinched a playoff spot when the Pacers lost last night. That takes the pressure off the Hawks to win their last two games.
Denver One Win Away From The 8th Seed
April 14, 2008
The Denver Nuggets blew out the Houston Rockets yesterday in a must win game. The are sitting in the 8th spot in the West right now and the only way they can lose it is it if they lose their final game and Golden State wins their final two. If Denver wins their final game and Golden State wins their final two Denver will get the eighth seed via tiebreaker.
Denver’s final game is against the Grizzlies. The Warriors last two games are against the Suns and Sonics.
Seattle Gets Revenge On Denver
April 7, 2008
A couple of weeks ago the Denver Nuggets blew out the Seattle Supersonics 168-116 but last night Seattle got its revenge. They beat the Nuggets 151-147 in double overtime and dealt a big blow to the Nuggets as they fight for one of the last two playoff spots in the West.
Kevin Durant buried a 3 at the end of regulation to tie the game and he did it again in the first overtime from about 30 feet out. Both Durant, Jeff Green, Luke Ridnour, and Earl Watson took their games to a new level for the win. Durant and Green both had career highs and Ridnour had a season high in points.
Denver Knocks Off Dallas To Get Closer To A Playoff Spot
March 28, 2008
The Nuggets moved closer to a playoff spot with a win over Dallas last night. Denver has won 4 straight games. They have a key stretch coming up where that play Golden State then Phoenix twice. If they can get those three while Dallas drops a few while Dirk is out they will be in but they will still have to watch their back, they have a tough 4 games at the end of the season. Their is also a chance that Dirk will comeback early so they better step it up if they want to end up in the postseason.
