Devin Harris Making Mark Cuban Look Like A Fool
December 1, 2008
The Mavericks made a blockbuster deal last season sending Devin Harris to the Nets for Jason Kidd. Now one month into the 08-09 season Devin Harris is making the Mavericks and Mark Cuban look like fools for trading him. Harris is averaging 25.3 points and 6.4 assists per game. He is averaging 11.8 free throw attempts per game.
Not only does he have monster stats but his team is winning. The Nets, a team that traded away Richard Jefferson and Kidd are a surprising 9 and 7. If Harris keeps this up he will be an all star, he will lead his team to the playoffs, and he will make Mark Cuban and all the Dallas fans wish he was still wearing a Dallas uniform.
Dallas Mavericks 2008-2009 Season Preview
September 20, 2008
The Dallas Mavericks have never been the same since they blew that 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals in 2006. This season will be the same as the last two seasons because they are not mentally strong. They have not made any significant changes that make them a better team than LA, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Antonio, or Portland.
One thing Dallas has to look forward to is a new coach. Maybe Rick Carlise can bring something to this team the Avery Johnson could not. They also have a full training camp and preseason with Jason Kidd. Maybe Kidd can make a better impact on the team by playing starting the season with the team.
Another thing to look forward to is the development of Brandon Bass. Bass came out of nowhere last year and was the Mavs third best player. If he improves on what he did last year it could be a great help to the team.
Another thing for this team to look forward to is Josh Howard coming out and trying to prove everyone wrong. People are on him about smoking weed, partying during the playoffs, disappearing during the playoffs, and his video about the national anthem. I am sure that Josh Howard will come out an show everyone that he can ball and put all that other crap in the rear view.
Without any major additions this team has to count on new coaching and improved players to make them better but I don’t think that will be enough. The Mavericks will be competing with the Clippers, Nuggets, and Blazers for those 7th and 8th playoff spots and their is a good chance that the Mavs won’t get in.
Mavs Sign Gerald Green
July 2, 2008
The Mavericks have signed Gerald Green to a one year contract. Green played to years for the Celtics and averaged 10.4 points a game in his second year. He was traded to Minnesota in the Garnett deal and they gave up on him right away by not picking up his fourth year option and by not playing him. He was traded to Houston before the trading deadline but was cut almost immediately. They are hoping he can become a solid backup for Josh Howard in Dallas.
Dallas And Suns Seasons Come To An End
April 30, 2008
Two teams that made two big and risky trades had their seasons ended yesterday. The Suns traded for Shaq in order to match up better with San Antonio and LA but they got bounced in round one and only managed to win a game. The Mavs made a crazy trade for Jason Kidd and they got bounced in the first round too.
As I mentioned a couple of days ago their may be some big changes coming for both teams in the Summer. Especially with the West being so tough and many of the players on both teams getting older. Shaq, Nash, Grant Hill, Kidd, and Stackhouse are all in their thirties. It is going to be hard for those teams to compete against a athletic and young Laker’s team, a consistent Spurs team, and a up and coming Portland team, not to mention Utah, Houston, and New Orleans. It is very possible that the Mavs title window has closed as well as the Suns. Unless those teams do something big in the Summer they won’t even be considered legit title contenders at the start of the season.
Changes In Dallas And Phoenix
April 28, 2008
The Suns and Mavericks are two teams that have been successful in the West the last few years. Dallas made it to the Finals once in 2006 and the Suns have went as far as the Western Conference Finals but neither team has won it all and they both may be going out in the first round this year.
If both teams go down in round one it is possible the coaches of both teams will be fired. It is also possible that the rosters will be broken up. If Dallas make changes Avery Johnson will be out, Josh Howard would definitely be on the block because he disappears in the playoffs. It is also possible that they will try to dump Terry and Stackhouse. The only people on that team that are going to stick around for sure is Kidd, Dirk, and Bass.
If the Suns make changes they will probably look to add more than subtract because they are not that deep in the first place. They need to bring some players in that are dedicated to defense because they can’t guard anyone.
Dallas Sucks
April 23, 2008
A lot of people were picking Dallas to beat New Orleans in the playoffs because of their experience. I picked Dallas to win just because I thought they were better but now I think Dallas is done. They don’t have anyone that can guard Chris Paul and they are just not mentally tough. Dirk looks to be tougher mentally and Brandon Bass is trying to prove himself but guys like Josh Howard, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Stackhouse, and Dampier are playing weak.
It will suck if Dallas loses this series since I bet $100 on them to win it. Right now it is looking like the worst $100 I ever spent.
Lakers Clinch The Top Seed In The West
April 16, 2008
The Lakers blew out the Sacramento Kings yesterday to claim the top spot in the Western Conference. They will play either Dallas or Denver in the first round. If Denver wins and Dallas loses Denver will move up to the 7th seed and Dallas will drop to the 8th. If Denver loses and Dallas wins Denver will stay in the 8th spot and Dallas will stay in the 7th spot.
The better matchup for the Lakers would be Denver. They took care of the Nuggets easily in the regular season this year but every game against Dallas was close. They can beat either team but Dallas will give them more problems, especially Dirk and Terry.

Injured Stars Return
April 3, 2008
Several NBA stars returned from injuries last night. Elton Brand, Gilbert Arenas, Pau Gasol, and Dirk Nowitzki. The biggest surprise comeback of those four guys was Dirk. Everyone thought he was done for the year but he surprisingly returned to help the Mavs to their first win over a .500 team since Jason Kidd Came to town. Dirk finished with 17 points and 4 rebounds.
It was also a big surprise to see Gilbert Arenas back on the court. I read that he was cleared to play but they said he would not play until he got his mind right but I guess they decided to let him play anyway. He played a solid game and Arenas scored 17 points in 20 minutes.
Pau and Brand also had solid games and picked up wins in their returns.
