Bonzi Wells Signs With Houston
September 28, 2006
Bonzi Wells, the last top notch free agent left on the market has finally signed a new deal after a long summer. He signed a 2 year deal worth $5 million. Wells wanted a long term deal worth around $50 million but teams were not willing to pay that much for his services so he decided to take the shorter deal.
He has a player option to opt out next summer so if he plays good he can probably get close to that $50 million next summer. On paper it looks like he selected a great team to play for because he can get minutes with the Rockets and if(when?) McGrady gets hurt he can step up and show people what he can really do.
Deals like can be good and bad for a player because of injuries. If Wells gets hurt or just has a poor season he will be wishing he took the $30 to $40 million Sacramento was offering him.
