Marion Wants Out Of Phoenix, Kobe Wants Marion

September 26, 2007

With rumors of a Shawn Marion for Lamar Odom trade, Shawn Marion is saying wants out of Phoenix and says he would welcome a trade to the Lakers. Kobe is also coming out and saying he hopes the trade goes through.

It is crazy that Marion wants out of Phoenix because they are so close to a championship. If Marion does get sent to LA it won’t really help the Lakers a bunch so I don’t know why Kobe wants him. He can give the Lakers more points, more rebounds, and more heart then Odom but that won’t take them to a title. Overall, I think Marion is a solid player that is underated but Lamar Odom is a more skilled player, he’s just not aggresive enough.

The best way for the Lakers to contend is to keep Odom and Kobe and add a third star player. Trading Odom straight up for Jermaine O’ Neal, Marion, or anyone else won’t help.

Good Free Agents Still Out There

September 24, 2007

Training camp starts in a week and their are still some good free agents out there. This was probably one of the worst seasons to be a free agent because most teams were low on cap space so guys signed for less money or did not sign at all. A few solid players that are left are Earl Boykins, Anderson Varejao, Sasha Pavlvic, Brian Skinner, Chris Webber, PJ Brown, Gary Payton, Troy Hudson, and Dee Brown.

A few of those guys like Brown and Payton are still deciding if they will play but everyone else is being patient and waiting for the best deal. After such a long summer it seems like a few of these guys will end up overseas or they will just wait until midseason to see who the best team is and sign with them.

Bucks Keep Bell

September 20, 2007

The Bucks have decided to match the offer Charlie Bell received from the Miami Heat. The Heat offered Bell a 5 year $18 million deal. The Bucks had 7 days to match the offer. Bell had become disatisfied with the organization because they took a long time to try and sign him and they where not willing to give him a long term deal.

Bell was hoping the Bucks would not resign him but now that they have decided to keep him lets hope that he will be able to move forward and go out and play hard instead holding a grudge against the organization.

Greg Oden Out For Season

September 13, 2007

Greg Oden’s knee injury is a lot worse than everyone thought. He is expected to be out for the entire season after undergoing micro-fracture surgery. It is a devastating blow to the franchise due to the fact that they once selected Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Bowie’s career was held back by injuries.

Since the Blazers choose Oden over Durant this injury probably has the Blazers organizations and blazers fans feeling deja vu.

Devin Harris Gets Extension

September 12, 2007

The Mavs are one of few teams in the League that actually commit to keeping key players around instead of dumping them to try and say money. The Mavs have locked up Devin Harris with a 5 year extension worth more than $40 million. With Harris, Dirk, Stackhouse, Howard, and Terry locked up for the next few year the Mavs should be at the top of the league for a while. Whether they win a championship depends on whether or not they can get over what has happened the last 2 year.

Bucks Already Looking At Bell Replacements

September 9, 2007

With negotiations with Charlie Bell going bad the Bucks are already looking at other options. Word is they have interest in point guard Troy Hudson. Hudson was recently bought out by the Minnesota Timberwolves for $10 million and is looking for a new team. Hudson has not done much of anything in the last few years, the Bucks better focus on keeping Bell instead of trying to go after Hudson.

Bucks May Lose Bell

September 7, 2007

The Milwaukee Bucks have had a good offseason because they were able to resign Mo Williams and sign their top pick Yi but thing will turn bad quickly if the team can’t resign Charlie Bell. Bell was the only Buck to play 82 games. He had a great season playing backup at the one and two and he is a player the Bucks should not let go.

Word is Bell wants a 5 year $25 million deal, and the Bucks are only willing to offer 3 year and $9 million. I have also heard that Bell is considering a 2 year $10 million deal from a team overseas. Hopefully, the Bucks will be able to keep Bell, if they don’t they will lose a reliable guy that fought hard to get in the league, they will also be losing a very good shooter.
