Jazz Did Not Believe

May 31, 2007

The Jazz were down 3 games to 1 and should have believed that they could win the next 3 games and advance to the NBA Finals but they did not. Word is some player on the Jazz booked vacations that start next week. Although it is disappointing to hear it is real not surprising considering only three player showed up in the series, Fisher, Boozer, and Williams, the rest of those guys did not care.

With the team they have and a bit more effort they could have took the series. Guess they will just have to wait until next year.

Shaq Backs Up Kobe

May 30, 2007

After years of Kobe taking heat for the Shaq trade Kobe came out and said that he did not force Shaq out and the reason Jerry Buss chose to get rid of Shaq was because he did not want to pay him. Shaq came out today and said he is one thousand percent sure that Kobe is telling the truth.

The reason Kobe came out with this information is because someone in the organization came out and said he forced Shaq out and he wanted to set the record straight.

Cavs Tie It Up

May 30, 2007

The Cavs pulled out another win against the Pistons yesterday. It was another close win and this time the Pistons were the ones making mistakes down the stretch. Billups took a frustration foul with about 1 minute left in the game. He also came down and shot a wild pull up three pointer with about 40 seconds left that had no chance of going in.

Honestly the Cavs could have swept this series by now but if they want to win they have to win 2 out of the next 3 games and I don’t know if that is possible. Guys like Drew Gooden and Daniel Gibson played well but they can’t do that on a consistent basis, so I still think the Pistons will pull it out.

Spurs/Pistons Looking Likely

May 29, 2007

The Spurs went up 3 games to 1 on the Jazz yesterday and we all know the Pistons will beat the Cavs so it looks like we will be watching a Spurs/Pistons final in a few weeks. It will suck and most people won’t watch but you still have to give both teams credit because they have built good team very quickly by making good trades, free agent signings, and good draft picks.

No one wanted Billups, Webber was a cheap pickup, Tayshaun was a late first rounder, and they traded washed up Jerry Stackhouse for Hamilton. Only thing you can fault them on was picking Darko when they could have picked Melo or DWade.

The Spurs picked Manu with the 57th pick a few years back and Tony Parker was a late first round pick. They picked up Brent Barry, Michael Finley, and Robert Horry. Many teams in the NBA fail at making good moves which is why they never get anywhere. These teams make good moves on a consistent basis and even though they are not very entertaining they are smart and they are winners.

Kobe Wants Jerry West In LA

May 28, 2007

Kobe Bryant said in an interview with ESPN that if the Lakers don’t bring Jerry West to LA to fix things he will ask to be traded. I think bring in West or any other GM would be a good move.

The current Lakers GM is not doing a good job. He traded for Caron Butler for Kwame Brown. He signed Radmonovic and then did not void his contract when he had the chance. He missed out on getting Ron Artest last season and he missed out on Bibby and Kidd this year. The only good move he has made was drafting Andrew Bynum.

The Lakers are in a position where they don’t have a lot of money for free agents. Although they do have some benefits with trades. They have Kwame’s contract which expires at the end of the upcoming season and the have Bynum which a lot of teams are high on, although he has a very small salary.

I said before that Kobe should have jumped to the Clippers when he had the chance. Even if he does demand a trade I doubt the Lakers would trade him. If he was traded it would be very shocking to see the best player in the NBA, and in my opinion a person that will be considered the best player in NBA history when he retires, get traded.

Hawks Have To Be Killing Themselves

May 27, 2007

The Atlanta Hawks had the second pick in the NBA draft in 2005. Everyone thought they should take a point guard but instead they drafted a forward, Marvin Williams. That choice left Deron Williams on the board and he was picked by the Utah Jazz.

Two years later Williams is a top 5 point guard in the NBA while the Hawks still don’t have a solid PG. Deron Williams is in the playoffs carrying the Jazz, along with Carlos Boozer, in just his second year in the NBA. Marvin Williams is a solid player but if the Hawks had Williams and Joe Johnson they would easiliy have one of the best backcourts in the league.

Deja Vu For Lebron

May 25, 2007

It came down to the wire for the Cavs and once again they were unable to pull out a victory. On the Cavs second to last play Lebron drove and passed it to Sasha Pavlovic for a three, Sasha got confused and traveled on the play. Not only did he make the mistake of traveling, he made the mistake of not cutting, the man guarding him was not paying attention he could have cut to the basket easily. Anderson Varejo was on the left side of the court standing behind the three point line. WTF? He also could have cut to the basket.

On the last play the Cavs had three chances to score, my problem with that sequence was that Anderson Varejo tipped the basketball and then backed up and let Rasheed get the board. Once again, WTF? He must have though it was going in our something but if he would have stayed put he could have gotten another tip and they could have won the game.

It is crazy to think that the Cavs could be up 2 games to 0 if they could execute better at the end of the games. As close as these games have been you can’t count the Cavs out but they have to close out games.

Hibbert Returning To Georgetown

May 23, 2007

Georgetown Center Roy Hibbert is said to be returning to Georgetown for his Senior year. I have not heard his reason for pulling out but he is projected to be a top 15 pick. I am curious to hear his reason for pulling out, especially so early. Players have until June 18th to withdraw and they usually do it at the last minute.

NBA Draft Lottery

May 23, 2007

The draft lottery did not go exactly as planned. The Portland Trailblazers, a team that had a 5.3% chance of getting the first pick actually got it. The Supersonics got the second pick and the Hawks got the third. The teams with the 3 worst records the Grizzles, Celtics, and Bucks ended up 4, 5, and 6 respectively.

The Blazer will most likely add Greg Oden. That will give them a starting 5 of Oden, Randolph, Aldridge (can he play the 3?), Brandon Roy, and Jarret Jack. Looks like a good young team.

The Supersonic will add Durant alongside Allen, Wilcox, Lewis, and Ridnour.

I was kinda pissed the Bucks dropped, I was hoping they could move up to the number two spot and get Durant, if they would have, I may have gotten season tickets for next year.
