Nuggets Showing Interest In Bonzi Wells

September 15, 2006

The NBA season is set to start in a month and a half and Bonzi Wells is still on the market. One reason may be his asking price, another reason may be the baggage ge comes with. Wells averged close to 14 points per game with Sacremento last season. For the money he is asking for that is not a lot of points.

Everyone knows wells can play, he gave Kobe trouble years back when he was playing with Portland. Since then I have expected him to do more but he has moved around and been injured. Maybe in the right situation he can go back to what he was doing earlier in the decade, or lets just say last seasons playoffs when he average 23ppg.

September 12, 2006

Toni Kukoc is most likely going to retire from the game of basketball at the age of 38 years old. Several team are interested in signing the vet but because of his preference to stay near his Illinois how he was only considering sign with two teams, the Bucks and the Bulls. Since niether team is interest Kukoc may just retire. He has said that he wants to play but that he doesn’t need to and he really would rather play golf. If he does officially retire we should salute him for all the work he put in as a player as well as celebrate the championships he helped the Bulls win.

Sport Specific Nutrition

September 9, 2006

I play ball a lot an over the year I have taken many supplement like Cell Tech, Nitro Tech, Glutamine, and Weight Gainer while playing. Those are decent supplements to take but if you are a person that plays a lot of basketball, you might want to look into taking sports specifc supplements that are just for basketball. Most items for GNC are basically made for bodybuilders not people that run and jump all over the place. That is why supplements made for basketball players might be more effective. You can find some sport specific supplement at JumpUSA.com.

Pau Gasol out 4 months

September 8, 2006

Pau Gasol will be out of action for 4 months after surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot. His injury could be good or back for Memphis depending on how the young players respond. With him out it will give Rudy Gay and Kyle Lowry time to shine. Hopefully they can handle the pressure and step up. Then when Gasol comes back the Grizzles will be set because they will have had a chance to play their young guys and they will have their star player back.

September 6, 2006

After a long wait Gary Payton is expected to resign with the Miami Heat. He is expected to get somewhere between $1 and $2.5 million. In more heat news Shandon Anderson may also resign. Even though he didn’t play that much the Heat may have thought highly of some of the minutes he played in the NBA finals enough to bring him back.

Jumping Higher

September 4, 2006

A lot of people that play basketball want to jump higher so they head to the weight room and try to squat and calf raise as much weight as they can thinking it will help. If you do this or know people that do it tell them it isn’t all about the weights. Many people with high vertical jumps get it from doing plyometric exercises. They are power exercises in which you make quick movements, like falling off a box and jumping back onto the box as soon as you hit the ground.

Plyometrics are very intense so you need to have a good strong base before starting them. I suggest anyone that once to start plyometrics goes to a doctor, coach, or trainer before starting. Do not just look up some exercises and start doing them, doing things that way will only lead to injuries.
