Lebron Staying
July 9, 2006
After a few days of avoiding the media Lebron James finally came out to say that he will be signing the Cavs 5 year contract extension that will keep him with the Cavs until 2013. James and his agent were not commenting on the contract but since he has agreed, Cavs fans are a lot happier today.
This gives the Cavs 7 years to get the franchise to a championship level. I am sure if they don’t win won within the next 7 years they will lose Lebron in 2013. He will only be 28 years old then so he will have a lot of great ball left to play. Cavs fans better hope they get some better pieces around him over the next few years.
Bulls getting more pieces
July 7, 2006
The Tyson Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith is no longer a rumor and will be going through on the 12th. It seems like a weird move for the Hornets. They have two rookie bigmen that can’t score now they have added Chandler, who has said he is going to be an all star next year.
Aside from that trade the Bulls seem to be interested in getting Wilcox. The only way they could get him is through a sign and trade because they have used most of their cap space on Ben Wallace. They do have a lot of pieces to trade so things could get interesting.
Chicago picks up Big Ben
July 4, 2006
Ben Wallace will be signing a big contract with the Chicago Bulls giving them one of the best defenders in the league. The deal will up grade the team dramatically to the second or third best team in the East. The Bulls have a lot of talent but they need to get some players up front that can score. Nocioni and Deng are each about 6 foot 9 inches and they are the Bulls tallest scorers, and they score from the outside. The Bulls are supposedly looking to trade Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith. That would give them another big guard and a little offense up front. I am sure some of their players will be on the move to get some more frontcourt offense.
Tim Thomas to LA, Cassell stays, Lakers get a shooter
July 3, 2006
Their have been a bunch of moves in the NBA over the last few days. Tim Thomas left Phoenix to sign with the Clippers for a 4 year $24 million contract. I hope this guy plays like he played in Phoenix for the rest of the year. I don’t know if he will though. The best years he has had in the league were his rookie year, contract year of 2000, and contract year of 2006. Don’t be surprised if he has a killer season in 2010.
Cassell is staying in LA. They are going to have a solid team next year. If Maggette can play the whole year and Thomas can give them 10 to 15 off the bench they will make some serious noise. The Lakers have picked up a shooter Vladimir Radmanovic. I hope that he can help this team make some progress next season. The Lakers are also looking for another guard and they are not resigning George. I wish they would get a player like Wilcox, someone that is a beast in the middle but I don’t see that happening.
TJ Ford for Charlie V.
July 2, 2006
The Bucks made a good move by keeping Mo Williams and trading TJ Ford instead. Mo is a better shooting than TJ so teams cannot play off of him like they did to TJ. The trade give the bucks a quality starting 5 with Williams, Redd, Simmons, Charlie V., and Bogut. The bench is looking a bit light with Gadzuric, Joe Smith, and Charlie Bell but after they trade Magloire they should add a few more pieces.
