Shannon Brown is getting some love, Finally!
May 31, 2006
Shannon Brown the Junior guard from Michigan State is one of my favorite college players if not my favorite. He is an athletic player, a decent defender, and a solid shooter yet he has never gotten love from scouts for a few reasons. One reason is that they say he is too short to play his natural position of shooting guard. He is listed at 6 foot 3 but he may be shorter than that. Some also feel that he lacks the ball handling skills to play point guard in the NBA.
Due to those opinions by scouts he was projected to be a second round pick this year but after a few great workouts he is said to be moving up into the top twenty (where he should have been from the start). If you thing about it their are a lot of solid tweeners in the NBA, Iverson, Ben Gordan, and Arenas just to name a few. Those are big time scorers.
Shannon Brown has improved every season in college. And lets consider whowho he was playing with. He averaged 17 points per game last year with two other solid players. Just imagine if he was with a team that didn’t have a big three.
Heat one game away from the finals
May 29, 2006
The Miami Heat went up 3 - 1 in the Eastern conference finals tonight. The were up most of the game but they lost the lead briefly in the third quarter. With about 2 minutes left in the first half the Pistons only had 28 points but they made a run at halftime.
The Pistons made the mistake they have been making all series, not posting up Rasheed Wallace. The shots he has been taking will make some think he is throwing the game. The pistons were smart to post up Prince on Walker but who would you rather post up Prince or R. Wallace?
Even though the Heat won by a nice margin they could have won a lot more they missed nearly 20 free throws in the game.
Miami vs. Detroit Game 3
May 28, 2006
The Heat vs. Pistons game 3 was a good game. The heat were holding the Pistons down for a good part of the game but the pistons made a run. You could see the looks in the fans eye when the Pistons got to within one point.
Overall the game came down to free throw shooting. Ben Wallace was 2 for 10 on free throws. Making those shot could have put them in the game. Another factor in my opinion is the fact that Rasheed Wallace isn’t getting the ball enough in the post. Haslem can’t hold Rasheed, and they are hurting themselve by not getting him down on the block. He is a good three point shooter but he is 6 foot 11 inches he needs to mix it up.

Playoffs have been a bit boring
May 27, 2006
I am a big basketball fan but I have not been watching much of this years playoffs. I watched a large majority of the first round but since then I have not tuned in as much. The matchups have been lacking entertainment. The Clevland versus Detroit series had several games in which the score was in the thirties at halftime. I like to see teams play defense but I like to see some good offense as well. It isn’t good to see teams with 30% shooting and 20 plus turnovers.
I plan on getting back to watching the games now that the matchups are a little better. Phoenix and Dallas features 2 good offensive teams and Miami and Detroit has Wade. I am expecting to see Dallas and Miami in the finals.
Why does Isaiah Thomas still have a job?
May 26, 2006
Since Isaiah Thomas has been with the Knicks he has made many questionable moves. His team has the highest payroll in the league and the don’t win.
In the last year he has brought in Steve Francis, Jalen Rose, Jerome James, Quentin Richardson, and Eddy Curry. None of them have really produced. I even here now he is trying to get Kenyon Martin.
A lot of pressure is falling on Larry Brown and their is talk of him being fired but Isaiah Thomas is the one that should be shown the door. The only thing good he has done since he has been their was draft the three rookies he drafted last year Frye, Robinson, and Lee. They all performed well for rookies.
When a guy keeps bringing on players with bad long term contracts someone has to evaluate the job he is doing.
Toronto gets the first pick in the draft
May 25, 2006
Toronto just recently won the first pick for next months draft. They got lucky but know they have to make sure they don’t mess up the pick. They already have their forwards set with Bosh and Charlie V. even with that said I still think they may end up picking Aldridge from Texas. Even though he is a 6 foot 11 inches he is not really a center, more of a power forward.
Although their are not many centers in the league playing big so it might end up being and okay choice. If they pick him they will have the best young frontcourt in the game but they still need a PG to get those guys the ball.
An alternative to Aldridge would be a shooting guard like Gay or Morrison. They could also trade down and go with a Marcus Williams a very rare pure point guard. I think trading down for a pg would be best and they could probably get a center or a shooting guard in a trade. Gadzuric and Maglore from the Bucks might be on the block. Plus their are some decent free agents available.
